Boka Utilit English, Kia Olapar e God’nent hospedam três edições Primeira edição Primeira WTC.

The International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Singapore has concluded. The international cricket body has unanimously decided that England will be the hosts of the next three editions of the World Test Championship (WTC) Finals.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) was the host of the last three editions of the WTC Finals. Each of these had sold-out crowds despite England failing to qualify. Just last month, the final between Australia and South Africa was also sold out.

ECB pips BCCI as WTC Final hosts

There were talks that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was interested in hosting the WTC Final and breaking the ECB’s monopoly over it. But the ICC was apprehensive. They feared the tournament wouldn’t garner enough interest in India if they didn’t qualify, something that hasn’t mattered in England.

Keeping all of this in mind, the ICC, which is presided over by former BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, has decided that the ECB will be hosting the WTC Finals until 2031, at least.

“During the conference, it was also announced that the England and Wales Cricket Board have been awarded hosting rights for the next three World Test Championship Finals. The first three editions of the WTC Final were held at different venues in England, with Lord’s hosting the most recent final between South Africa and Australia last month,” the ICC announced.

  • 2027 ODI World Cup – South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia
