A Índia ganhou 2 testes de 15 cada um no oval, com o último jogo está perdendo o WTC em 2023.
India return to The Oval for the first time since their World Test Championship final loss to Australia in 2023. Barring a historic win in 2021, it hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for the Men in Blue. Shubman Gill and Co will aim to reverse that jinx in the IND vs ENG 5th Test. As has the been norm this series, runs will once again be on offer in the decider for the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy.
IND vs ENG 5th could be another run fest
The India vs England series has been high scoring and signs are it continues in the 5th Test. Another 5-day contest on the cards given the nature of the Oval wicket. The surface has aided run scoring in recent times, making it a batting haven. In the last County Game at the venue, hosts Surrey plundered 820 batting first. In response, Durham were bowled out for 362. They however managed 262 following on, without losing a wicket.
Both India and England have shown their penchant for big runs this series. England lost to Sri Lanka in their last Test at the venue, while defeated Australia in Stuart Broad’s final Test in 2023. Run scoring has eased since and with The Hundred to follow, expect runs to be on offer.

Shardul Thakur scored half-centuries in both the tests he has played at the venue. Kl Rahul scored 149 in 2018, with Rishabh Pant scoring 118 in what was his maiden Test century. While the left-hander is ruled out, India would hope to make merry on a flat surface.
The Oval mystery: Green surface on the cards?
A day before the Test, it remains unclear how the surface would pan out. The surface had a healthy covering grass on Wednesday, suggesting help for the seamers. Should the conditions remain overcast, batting could get tricky. England, in fact named 4 seamers in their playing XI. Jacob Bethell and Joe Root will cover spin bowling duties, if required.
India will regardless field Washington Sundar and Ravindra Jadeja following their exploits. Should the grass remain steady, Gill could be handicapped with the lack of genuine pacer options in the XI. Jasprit Bumrah is unlikely to feature, while Arshdeep Singh will be on debut. Shardul could by virtue, retain his place in the side.
