Rohit Sharma tem um evento de flop na Austrália, onde conseguiu uma pontuação de 30 rodadas nos testes de teste que tocou, em média 6.

The sudden retirement of Rohit Sharma from Test cricket, had caused a bit of a furor. After all, he was the Indian skipper. There were murmurs, that the BCCI might have played some sort a role in that. But a few months after the event, the truth might have just come out. India team manager on the tour of Australia, where Rohit just struggled to get runs, has revealed the real reason behind his retirement.

What Led to Rohit Sharma’s Retirement?

Jaydev Shah, in a podcast revealed, that the reason was more personal. “He had a baby, he came back and he couldn’t make runs. Okay, he was out of form. He was dropped from the last Test (Sydney), but then he won the Champions Trophy. I think he thought it was time for him to play white ball more than red ball and give another cricketer a chance.

“I think the board was looking at things like, we have to prepare our team for the next championship. That’s a two-year cycle so it’s better if new players get set and get there.” In fact, Jaydev Shah went to the extent of saying, that Rohit didn’t look like continuing in Tests, for the next two years.

“And it didn’t seem like Rohit could take it for two more years. He also had his injury, he didn’t play a couple of IPL matches because of that either. I think that’s what he thought, and left for the team to grow and build nicely in the new cycle. Such big decisions are taken by big people like Rohit themselves.”

That said, Rohit is still very much an active player in the ODIs, and is in fact the skipper of the team. It remains to be seen, how he shapes up for the 2027 World Cup.
