Mohammed Siraj has confirmed that Jasprit Bumrah will play the India vs England 4th Test. With the 5-match series on the line, it was expected that Bumrah would be in action at Old Trafford. Having already played two of the pre-decided three Test matches, it wasn’t certain whether the world’s best Test bowler would feature at Manchester.
Bumrah to play in India vs England 4th Test
But with India down 1-2 and a plethora of injury issues, the Indian management has decided to play Bumrah. “Jassi bhai to khelege (Bumrah will play). The combination is changing, but we need to bowl in good areas. The plan is simple—stick to good areas,” Siraj told reporters in Manchester.
Akash Deep ruled out with injury?
The third pacer at Old Trafford may or may not be Akash Deep. After his Edgbaston heroics, Akash failed to live up to the standards at Lord’s. He struggled with line lengths and his body. He seemed to be having back issues and was seen getting treated on the ground for it.
Then he returned to the change room, and it was later revealed that he had faced some discomfort in his left hip. With two days left before the Manchester Test, Akash was seen testing his fitness with assistant/bowling coach Morne Morkel and the Indian physio by his side.
Will he play the India vs England 4th Test? Siraj didn’t specify. He just stated that he has a groin issue and is being assessed by the medical team. “Akash Deep has a groin issue; he bowled today, and now physios will see,” Siraj added.
